UL1000 Helium Leak Detector
Speed, Sensitivity and Reliability for Demanding Leak Detection Applications
The INFICON UL1000 Mobile Helium Leak Detector is designed to meet the most demanding industrial leak detection applications. Providing fast, accurate and repeatable test results, testing flexibility, and high sensitivity in a low maintenance design, the UL1000 is ready to tackle the toughest leak detection jobs industry can offer. The UL1000 is optimized to provide quick accurate results in any application from the leak checking of large vessels and systems to high-cycle, repetitive component testing - 24 hours / 7 days a week in the toughest industrial environments.
The UL1000 offers a specially designed vacuum architecture that delivers high helium pumping speeds even at high pressures to provide results that you demand. It features I-CAL (Intelligent - Calculation Algorithm for Leak Rates), an algorithm that ensures lightning-fast response to leaks in all measurement ranges. Other features include: a rotatable display / control interface and optional remote hand controller for operational flexibility, a sturdy metal platform for durability, a work surface for testing convenience, and large wheels for simple, safe mobility.
The UL1000 has unsurpassed built-in intelligence and assessable information. Programmed into the system software are advanced self-diagnostic routines with troubleshooting prompts to guarantee the UL1000 is ready when you need it. System self-protection features as well as performance data can be accessed through the User Menu to prevent system contamination from helium or particulate further ensuring the UL1000 is running properly when you need it. Even the turbomolecular pump works to ensure helium contamination is never an issue. Optimized compression and pumping speed prevent contamination of the mass spectrometer to ensure fast clean-up after large leaks.
Application:
- Automotive components, subassemblies and systems
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning components and subassemblies
- Hermetically sealed electronic device; integrated circuits, liquid crystal displays, quartz displays, flat panel displays, fiber optics
- Packaging: - barrels, medical and pharmaceutical packaging, food packaging

- Cryogenic components, lines, systems
I-CAL Provides Ultrafast Detection
Using a special software algorithm called I-CAL, the UL1000 provides accurate measurements at unsurpassed speed in all measurement ranges. While other leak detectors must average the signal over long periods of time to ensure a stable leak rate, the UL1000 with I-CAL responds with unparalleled speed and stability in all measurement ranges, including the smallest minimum leak rate ranges.
Easy Rotatable Display and User Interface
A rotatable display on the UL1000 allows simple, easily understood control and interface with the operator in several languages. The display presents measurement results and status information in large characters with excellent clarity, so that readings can be observed conveniently from considerable distances even in bright or low light settings. Measurement results can be presented in several user selectable formats including digital, bar graph or trend display.
The most important basic functions (Start, Stop, Zero) are available at the press of a button. More advance functions are available from the menu through an easy-to-use, highly intuitive user interface.
The highly flexible system software allows for access control to the unit and system software. User access can be limited and access to parts of the menu can be protected against unauthorized use or unintended modifications. In addition, the UL1000 can be programmed for up to 3 different users/applications for quick and easy system operation.
Built-in Convenience
With its low center of gravity, large, smooth, rolling wheels, ergonomically positioned handle and sleek profile, the UL1000 is highly maneuverable even in tight spaces. It is equipped with a roomy work surface providing a convenient space to place test parts, fixtures and tools you need to get the task done fast.
Interface Center Allows Easy Operation
All the electrical and mechanical connections are located together on one side of the UL1000 to simplify any installation. The UL1000 Interface Center includes access to the RS232, I/O, chart recorder, optional remote control, and UL1000 accessories. In addition, there is convenient access to the units vent, gas ballast, and exhaust connections.
Intelligent Vacuum Design
The UL1000 uses the INFICON field-proven 180o magnetic sector mass spectrometer and ion source and marries it to a highly effective and efficient vacuum system. The result is a turbomolecular pump with optimized pumping speed and compression ratio with a large, rugged backing pump to ensure the UL1000 quickly reaches leak rate levels below the rejection point, so testing may begin quickly.
The UL1000 crosses over to test mode at very high pressures and delivers consistently high pumping speeds across all pressure ranges with excellent sensitivity. The special multiple inlet turbopump allows for optimization of minimum sensitivity detection limits for all pressure conditions in the test object without compromising the integrity or cleanliness of the mass spectrometer.
Software Updates By E-Mail Keep You Current
All new features and firmware improvements can be delivered to you via system software updates, guaranteeing your UL1000 always delivers optimum performance. New firmware revisions can be installed in the UL1000 through a standard interface within minutes.
3-Year Ion Source Warranty
INFICON market-leading ion sources are backed with a 3-year guarantee for free replacement. Consumable costs, down time and maintenance expense associated with typical ion source and filament changes are not a problem with the UL1000, because it has a built-in system protection to ensure the ion source is protected from air blasts, contamination and other events that can shorten filament life.
